Video | How Balfour Beatty works at height safely on motorways

7 February 2019 | By Neil Gerrard

Balfour Beatty is using new thinking and innovative equipment to keep its workers safe when working at height on motorway.

The contractor's maintenance work includes replacing an advanced matrix indicator (AMI) on the M42 as part of the Midlands regional technology maintenance contract (RTMC) for Highways England.

Balfour Beatty has introduced a new maintenance access vehicle, equipped with a large scissor lift on the back of the unit as well as a crane arm.

The vehicle offers safety benefits, allowing workers to occupy two lanes rather than three and letting them get closer to the AMIs.
