Workers injured in partial building collapse

Scene of the building collapse yesterday (6 August).

Five people have been injured after a building in Windsor undergoing construction work partly collapsed.

Royal Berkshire Fire & Rescue Service and South Central Ambulance Service both attended the scene after the collapse was reported just after 920am yesterday (6 August).

Four construction workers were hurt – one seriously – as well as one resident of the building.

Crews from stations in Slough and Maidenhead attended alongside a heavy rescue unit from Dee Road fire station.

Upon arrival, crews found that the roof of a building had collapsed. Two people were placed in the care of South Central Ambulance Service while crews worked to rescue two other casualties.

Once they were rescued, the crews made the scene safe before handing over to a structural engineer. They were on the scene for approximately four hours and 40 minutes.
