I agree with the statements made by Adrian Chamberlain however, more information needs to be disseminated to the supply chain surrounding; 1) the change in procurement methods throughout the construction industry, 2) How BIM is going to affect this process and 3) What the supply chain needs to do to get BIM ready. I do believe that this is a major factor not stressed within this article and since the government deadline for the integration of BIM is only two years away then this should be the year for the supply chain to ensure that BIM is realised as a necessity. Any member of the supply chain not integrating BIM needs to critically assess the reasons why they are not implementing BIM and what affects this may have on their business in the future. As BIM is not only affecting the design and construction process it is also going to affect the way in which we handover buildings. I do believe that every member of the supply chain needs to understand where and how their information will be integrating into an Assets Information Model (AIM) for clients.
