Video | HS2 contractors prepare for huge M42 bridge installation

LM JV (a joint venture between Laing O’Rourke and J Murphy) is to install the first of four huge new bridges in Solihull in August, as part of alterations to the road network for HS2.

The road network changes come ahead of the construction of the HS2 Interchange Station and involve the construction of four connecting bridges, the first of which will span the M42.

The work to drive the 2700t bridge, which is 67m long by 30m wide, into place on self-propelled modular transporter will start after rush hour on Friday 7 August, with the aim of re-opening before rush hour on 10 August. It will involve the closure of the area between junctions 6 and 7A (northbound) and junctions 7 and 6 (southbound).

  1. With such capabilities and professionalism displayed by the LM JV and HS2 staff and workforce, do we really need involvement from any Chinese contractor / funding source on the scheme?

Hope the placement goes to plan
