  1. This article might seem to be controversial but I don’t think there’s a great deal to get excited about here. The article draws out the efficiencies of BIM both on large complex projects and throughout the FM operation lifecycle.
    So far so good!
However I think this goes on to miss the point, in that the benefits of better collaboration, communication and information sharing are equally applicable to all projects whatever their size or complexity. Also whilst it might be hard to believe just now, BIM will be the way we work – period. It will just be the way stuff is done. You won’t choose not to do it, it’ll be the way you work. In addition again this article seems to imply requirement for huge investment making this the province of big projects, big organisations. However we know that ain’t necessarily so! Depending on what you do, BIM may not mean huge technology change or investment. The BIM task group investment matrix bears this out.

So in conclusion if you want to improve the way you work and be involved in the future of the industry BIM is for you in some shape or form, whatever your role.
