  1. Always like that picture of Chidi – perfect example of the difference a bit of social investment can make.

    Chidi was desperate to find a path to meaningful career and had already put himself through a bricklaying diploma at level 3 when we met him at an opportunities event we jointly organised with Enfield Council.

    However, he kept banging his head against a brick wall (ironically !) trying to find an employer to get site experience and convert to a full apprenticeship. There were ‘alternative’ career paths available that he wanted to avoid but that were becoming tempting the more disillusioned he got.

    It’s fair to say the apprenticeship opportunity transformed him – the confidence, the maturity, the self-assurance – they all went through the roof.

    I think you can see it in this image – there’s no way he could fake that smile! From NEET to ‘Young Builder of the Year’ in just over 12 months – and then straight into permanent employment. That’s what social value investment can do with a bit of faith and hard work!
