Institute backs small business BIM initiative

  1. As much as we discuss adoption of BIM in the UK and the ability of main contractors to face up to the challenges required, it is SMEs that will be the engine room for BIM adoption. Virtually every project in the UK is dependent on SMEs in the supply chain, and it will be their ability to engage with the use of BIM and the new ways of working that ultimately will decide the fate of BIM in the construction industry. So if you are an SME and want to get ahead of the pack, come along to the launch on the 15th April and/or get involved with the BIM4SME group.

  2. I participated in the BIM4SME launch on April 15th, which was well attended, with about 150 people. There were various presentations by SMEs from various sectors about their use of BIM.
    Chloe Smith the construction minister gave an excellent government perspective on the case for BIM and the role of SMEs. Check out all the details and join the group at http://www.bim4sme.org.
