Kingspan has created a new role to ensure that the company takes a “rigorous approach” to certification, testing, and product compliance across all of its divisions.

Jim Carolan, formerly operations director in Kingspan’s insulated panels division, has been appointed as the new group head of compliance and certification.

The move comes after several current and former Kingspan employees were grilled about the way in which the company manufactured, tested and marketed its Kooltherm K15 insulation, a quantity of which was used in the refurbishment of Grenfell Tower.

At the same time as announcing the new role, Kingspan also announced that Peter Wilson, divisional managing director of the group’s insulation boards business, would depart.

The company said: “Mr Wilson’s decision to retire reflects his view that now is the right time to hand over to new leadership at an important time for the Insulation Boards Division. The Board thanks Peter for his contribution.”

Alan Lawlor has been appointed divisional managing director of Kingspan’s insulation boards division with responsibility for its global activities. Lawlor is currently chief financial officer of Kingspan’s insulation boards division and managing director of Kingspan Insulation, Southern Europe.
