  1. Chris, our entire industry is in the same state, for example why is SMSTS regarded more highly than MCIOB? Why is NEBOSH not really appricated in our industry? The amount of add on certificates one must attain and the costs of gaining them, are career-finishing if you are not lucky enough to be in full time employment with a large well resourced company.
Why do all the operational resources have to prove their competence with the relevant CSCS card, with the exception of the site manager who only has to have a 5 day multiple choice SMSTS. I would politely request that someone within the institution answer my concerns.

  2. Chris why does the institute show zero interest in its members who are freelance? We pay are subscriptions just the same as everybody else, are as qualified as everybody else.
I have been paying my subscriptions for 8 years and in all of that time, I have never seen any features involving freelance members, it’s like we don’t exist! or we cause embarrassment. There are hundreds if not thousands of members that are currently unemployed or struggling having to take freelance temporary roles. Not everyone is lucky enough to work for large well resourced companies so we probably will never get to go to some of those tuxedo clad award ceremonies that are often featured in construction manager magazine.
