  1. Let’s not get carried away here. I think the Task group know what they’re doing, and there are moves afoot to secure the Level 2 legacy. After all their leadership has brought us to the point of virtually leading the world in BIM implementation. Even if our industry at home is still slow on the uptake….that will change!

I expect the pace to pick up, the naysayers to fall by the wayside and SMEs to be the key battleground for hearts and minds in adopting BIM. Meanwhile the more estabilished early adopters will continue to blaze their trail, they see the benefits, and I’m sure that will continue.

I would say keep the faith, but I don’t think BIM is a religion …..yet!

  2. It is interesting to see this post, having just finished responding to an international site eying UK BIM with envious eyes.
The progress has been far greater and more rapid that expected when we wrote the BIM Report and mandated.
Like any change, there are those that do – who capitalise, and those that wait – who follow.
There is little doubt that the momentum is such to carry BIM through, and increasingly we are working to support Clients and client groups in the pull of BIM, as well as supply side push.
Some of the most vibrant and exciting approaches to adoptions have been from SME suppliers – which is hugely refreshing.
The plan to reduce initial support to BIM Task Group was always there and should be no surprise to anyone. The bleating and positioning for future support seems to be from those who are losing their grant support and not from the practitioners – who understand the business case for and opportunities from BIM.
