All Taylor Wimpey employees return from furlough

All of housebuilder Taylor Wimpey’s staff have now returned from furlough as the company reported a “healthy increase” in reservations.

The business has restarted construction on the “majority” of its sites in England and Wales with new safety measures in place including new signage, phased sign-in times, social distancing protocols, modified welfare facilities and additional PPE.

It said it was track to reach “meaningful production capacity” from the end of this month.

Many of the housebuilder’s employees are still working from home, including those shielding or those who are shielding someone vulnerable. All of Taylor Wimpey’s offices remain closed to all but essential visits.

The firm added that it has seen a “good level of interest” in a 5% discount scheme for NHS and care workers, launched in recognition of their contribution during the coronavirus crisis.
