Turner & Townsend appoints James Dand as COO
Global professional services company Turner & Townsend has announced a new chief operating officer (COO) to drive the business’s ongoing growth strategy in its three key segments of infrastructure, real estate and natural resources.
James Dand has been appointed as global COO, following the retirement of Tom Harrison. Previously European managing director, Dand first joined the business 15 years ago and has been instrumental in driving its strong regional growth across Europe.
In his new role, he will be responsible for delivering operational improvements across all aspects of Turner & Townsend’s services, and enhancing performance across its market segments.
Commenting on his appointment Dand said: “After seven consecutive years of exceptional growth, this is an exciting time to take on this role and work with the wider leadership team as we build on our leading position in infrastructure, real estate and natural resources.
“We have a fantastic platform for further growth, working with the largest global clients and on major transformative programmes in every continent. By adapting, innovating and embracing change we will continue to be one step ahead of the market, delivering better outcomes for our clients, our people and society.
Vincent Clancy, Turner & Townsend CEO, commented: “James’s promotion to the executive board exemplifies our commitment to recognising and nurturing talent within the business. With his appointment, three of our five executive board members now originally joined the business as a graduate, which is testament to the investment we make in our people.
“We see Turner & Townsend as the home for the most capable people in our industry, and we want to continue building a working environment that inspires everyone to achieve their full potential.”
Paul Grace, previously Russia country manager, is replacing Dand as European managing director.
