The Moda scheme will rise above Birmingham’s skyline
John Sisk is in line to build Birmingham’s tallest residential building for developer Moda Living.
The £183m build-to-rent scheme, 2one2 Broad Street, involves a 42-storey tower which comprises 481 flats plus leisure facilities.
Sisk is understood to have seen off competition from rival bidders including Wates and Galliford Try to land the deal.
Last month, Sisk recruited Moda Living operations director Simon Dingle, who had previously worked at Carillion.
The 2one2 Broad Street scheme, designed by Glen Howells Architects, includes a three-storey podium with a 200-metre running track on the roof, 35,000 sq ft of retail and leisure space and 30,000 sq ft of other communal facilities. The flats will range in size from one to three bedrooms.
Planning approval was received from Birmingham City Council in December 2017.
Sisk has previously delivered several student accommodation projects in the Second City, including the University Locks scheme for Birmingham City University, where the modular build method used precast concrete sections supplied by Northern Ireland firm FP McCann.

Lets hope that the fire compartmentation/fighting provisions etc. are better than
Grenfell especially the maintenance of these systems… [ie mist smoke control sprinklers/water pressure access for fire/rescue services etc. etc. …!
They seem more interested in the competition of who can build the tallest building
Excellent, let’s hope that one day Birmingham can bring itself to build something residential that is taller than 130 metres, it’s 2018 and the BT Tower is still the tallest overall. We need a few 50-60 storey buildings like Manchester. But this is a good start.
