Efforts to persuade South London home-owners to take part in a heavily-subsidised “Green Deal” that claimed to cut utility bills have been floundering, reports Building.
Sutton Borough Council’s initiative, run with B&Q and consultant BioRegional, aimed to encourage greater take-up of government schemes for energy-saving. But 60 out of 126 home-owners who received an energy audit as part of the trail felt their energy savings would be too small to justify the investment – despite a 40% grant.
