CIOB to move from Ascot headquarters

After more than 40 years, the CIOB is moving from its head office in Ascot to modern office accommodation in Bracknell. 

As part of the move the CIOB will also set up a representative office in London, bringing itself alongside its sister institutes in the construction sector and other industry influencers.

With membership continuing to grow internationally, the decision by the Board of Trustees responds to the increasing demand to keep up with advances in information and communications technology. 

This forms part of the CIOB’s drive to operate more flexibly so it can better meet the needs of members now and in the future.

It sees the web as becoming central to its activities and plans to increase its adoption of digital and web-based technologies, where members will have greater opportunities to connect and share knowledge with each other. 

The CIOB is scheduled to move into its new HQ by February 2014.

  1. The membership should be consulted before a decision is taken to sell Englemere. If it is sold then the windfall profit should be distributed among the membership who have paid for it through their annual subscriptions.

  2. It is a bit sad to lose the Ascot head office, however I appreciate that the Institute must move on with the times, albeit getting further away from where I am based.

  4. I regret that I have seen nothing to suggest the membership has been consulted about this decision. Can the next printed magazine please explain the business reasoning, financial forecasts, capital expenditures or disposals together with any long term commitments on leases so that we can understand what has been decided in our name?

  5. Whilst I was aware that the Englemere site was considered for development, it was a surprise this morning to see Millgate Homes leader boards and the CIOB signs removed, a sad passing.
    An update of the sale process as already described by Grahame Wiggin should now be circulated….?
