Britain’s largest contractor, Balfour Beatty this week acquired Opl Group, the award winning design, fit-out and refurbishment company for £8m.
Opl Group, which was founded in 1994 by Neil Laughton and Andrew Russell to take on projects under £18m turns over £40m . Its clients include BAA, Rolls Royce, Virgin, Transport for London, The Department of Business Innovation and Skills, Orange and B&Q.
Paul Lelliott, Opl’s Group Managing Director, said: ”Opl is delighted to become part of the Balfour Beatty Group. We have established ourselves as a progressive business by providing innovative design, competitive pricing and total reliability. The backing of Balfour Beatty will help drive Opl forward.”
Opl will retain its brand and premises in both London and Birmingham. Customers will now be able to access a far wider skills base and additional capabilities through Opl’s link with Balfour Beatty.
Lelliott added: “Our passion and commitment to delivering inspirational workplaces will remain and we will continue to provide clients with the personal service we know they value – in that respect it’s business as usual. However, we look forward to offering an enhanced range of services and expanded knowledge base through tapping into Balfour Beatty’s capabilities and markets.”
Balfour Beatty Construction Managing Director, Dave Donaldson, added: “Opl Group is a well-regarded company with a strong reputation for quality as evidenced by its blue-chip customer base. Opl is an excellent strategic fit with our existing capabilities, and the acquisition extends Balfour Beatty’s skill base within the fitout market.”
